Culture and History

The Orbeli Brothers House Museum is located in the brothers’ former family home, contains around 2,000 exhibits, and honors their scientific achievements. The museum’s exhibitions are divided into scientific and memorial sections. Ruben, Levon, and Hovsep Orbeli were born in Tsaghkadzor.

Kecharis was founded in the 11th century by the Pakhlavuni princes. In the 12th and 13th centuries, Kecharis was an important religious center of Armenia with a higher school and was one of the major cultural and spiritual centers of medieval Armenia. The main complex consists of four churches, two chapels, and a vestibule; its construction continued until the middle of the 13th century.

Landscape

The Tsaghkadzor cable car offers bird’s-eye and panoramic views over the landscape of Tsaghkadzor. It has five stations, with the fifth station having been put into operation specifically for tourists. The cable car reaches the heights of Teghenis in 40 minutes. It operates year-round and is designed as a chairlift system; the seats can accommodate up to four children or adults.

Activities

Zip Line Tsaghkadzor reaches heights of up to 130 meters. The Tsakhkadzor Sports Center has an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool and saunas, as well as indoor and outdoor tennis courts.

The Tsaghkadzor municipality promotes hiking through wildflower-rich nature during the warm season, as well as climbing and cycling.
