Culture and History
The Rahachow Museum of National Glory opened its first visitor exhibition in April 1970 with two halls: one was dedicated to the revolutionary events in the Rogachev region, while the other focused on the Second World War and the liberation of the city and district. The museum has an archaeological collection and is a historical museum with collections of archaeology, personal documents, numismatics, faleristics, printed works, photographs, icons, old publications, coin hoards, weapons, and works by Russian, Belarusian, and Rogachev artists.
The exhibition “Драўляныя карункі” is on display at the Rahachow Museum of National Glory. It is dedicated to wooden architecture and the tradition of decorating houses with window frames and shutters. The “Лёс салдата” Museum in Rahachow opened on February 22, 1994, and displays an AM82FN aircraft engine as well as the cockpit of a La-5. One of the thematic excursions popular with visitors at the “Лёс салдата” Museum was “Rogachev 1–3 July 1941”.
Places and Landscapes
The ancient settlement of Rogachev on Castle Hill is an archaeological monument dating from the 1st millennium BC. Castle Hill is located in Rogachev on the banks of the Dnieper; it offers views of the surrounding landscape.
The Church of St. Anthony of Padua is an architectural monument in the Neo-Gothic style, built between 1898 and 1904 from unplastered red bricks. The House of Merchant Berl Belenky is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of Belarus. It is a two-storey brick house built at the end of the 19th century, with a richly decorated eclectic-style façade featuring contrasting white decoration.
Local Character
Next to the walls of a dairy plant in Rogachev stands a four-metre-high mosaic monument in the shape of a can of condensed milk. The condensed milk monument in Rogachev was erected in 2013 to mark the company’s 75th anniversary.
