Culture and History
Byelaazyorsk was established in connection with the construction of Berezovskaya GRES. Construction of Berezovskaya GRES began in spring 1958; the first power unit was commissioned in December 1961. In Belarus, Berezovskaya GRES is a state-recognised historical and cultural value dating from 1958 to 1967. Byelaazyorsk is also home to the Museum of the Combat and Labour Glory of Berezovskaya GRES.
Byelaazyorsk is home to the Church of Saint Seraphim of Sarov. It is a two-storey building with a cruciform layout in the Russian style and Byzantine elements. The Church of Saint Seraphim of Sarov houses an icon containing relics of Saint Seraphim, which were brought from Jerusalem in August 1994.
Energetikov Park contains a mass grave of Soviet soldiers and partisans from 1941, which is among Belarus’s state-recognised historical and cultural values. Energetikov Park is the burial place of 49 soldiers and partisans, including 19 pilots, who died between 24 and 26 June 1941.
