Dzivin: Hotels and accommodations

When searching for a hotel in Dzivin, the local cultural and landscape attractions are a key consideration alongside the accommodation itself. These include historic wooden churches, the Suvorov Oak, the Divin–Veliki Les biological reserve, and Lake Lyuban in the surrounding area.

Culture

The Suvorov Oak is a botanical natural monument of national significance. According to local tradition, the Russian military commander A. V. Suvorov rested beneath the Suvorov Oak in 1794. A stone slab and a commemorative plaque at the tree commemorate the historical event associated with him.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin is an outstanding architectural monument of wooden architecture with Baroque elements and was built in 1740. It was remodeled in the 19th century while retaining its characteristic architectural features. The church stands in the center of Divin. Its altar faces northwest rather than east, contrary to Orthodox tradition. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin is included in the list of historical and cultural values of the Republic of Belarus.

The Church of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa was built between 1728 and 1740 on the site of an older church dating from 1566. Its main facade has two towers crowned with domes, as well as a gallery with a balustrade. The Church of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa in Divin was built in 1740 and is described as a notable example of wooden architecture. It is included in Belarus’s tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage sites and was reopened only in the early 1990s.

Nature

At least twelve animal and plant species from protected categories of the Red Book of Belarus occur in the Divin–Veliki Les biological reserve. The area covers 3,000 hectares and was established to protect rare plant species listed in the Red Book of Belarus.

Lake Lyuban is located in the surrounding area of Divin, northeast of the village, and forms part of the Lyuban recreation zone. On the eastern shore of Lake Lyuban there is a Bronze Age settlement as well as Mesolithic and Neolithic archaeological sites.

Cycling route

A cycling route in Kobryn District is up to 200 kilometers long and is designed for adults to be completed over a period of up to three days. On the way to Divin, the cycling route passes the Suvorov Oak, and in Divin it passes the Church of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa and the Divin–Veliki Les biological reserve. Lake Lyuban is listed as a rest stop near Divin along the cycling route.
