Lyntupy: Hotels and Accommodation

Lyntupy has a historic market centre. The Church of the Holy Apostle Andrew in Lyntupy’s historic market centre is a functioning Neo-Baroque architectural monument from the early 20th century and has been included in the state list of historical and cultural values of Belarus. In December 2023, a decree by the Ministry of Culture added it to Belarus’s state list as a Category 2 monument of national significance.

Culture

Yuzef Bishevsky commissioned a Neo-Renaissance palace in Lyntupy, designed by the Polish-Lithuanian architect Tadeusz Rostworowski. The Lyntupy estate began to take shape in the late 18th century, when it was owned by the Gilzen family. The representative area of the Bishevsky manor and park complex includes a parterre, a brick arch bridge, a chapel, a service wing and a brewery.

A cemetery surrounded by tall pine trees in Lyntupy contains 15 Catholic stone chapels, old gravestones with unusual names and an old stone cross.

History

On 9 October 1486, Anna Dolgiridowna, the wife of Ivashka Ilyinich, founded an altar in her church in Lyntupy. It was dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew and Saint George. Her husband also bequeathed to the church a tithe of grain and garden produce from his estates in Komarovo and Markovo.

Events

The Catholic festival in honour of Saint Anna, “Hanna”, has been held annually in Lyntupy since approximately the 18th century. The programme includes a procession around the church, a religious service and then a market in the main square.

Nature

Bishevsky Park is a six-hectare landscape and formal park with four ponds and connecting channels on the Lyntupka. The main pond has a granite embankment with steps, and various tree species grow in the park.

The Nevaišių Kalnas hill lies in the wider regional surroundings of Lyntupy. The eco-trail at the Blue Lakes is also part of the wider excursion context of Lyntupy.
