Dobri dol: Hotels and accommodations

History

In the 15th century, the monastery was destroyed and restored by Pimen Zografski. The monastery is also associated with the ecclesiastical apostolate of Antim Vidinski, the first Exarch of Bulgaria after the restoration of the Bulgarian Church.

Architecture

The monastery church is described as a rare example of religious architecture from the Bulgarian National Revival. It has an almost square, cruciform floor plan with a single apse and a single nave. Its dome rests on an octagonal drum.

The church's western exterior wall features stone reliefs depicting people, birds, and archangels. A large stone fountain stands at the entrance to the monastery; it was built in 1861 with funds from the bakers' guild of Lom. A chapel dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian contains the monastery spring, known as Ayazmo.

Things to do

Dobri Dol is located on road corridor II-11 toward Lom and Gorni Tsibar. The municipality of Lom has two cycling routes that can be used with private or rented bicycles. Motorized water sports are practiced on the Danube within the municipality of Lom. In Dolno Linevo, also within the municipality of Lom, visitors can visit an equestrian facility.
