Culture and History

The Church of Saint Athanasius was built between 1835 and 1838 and is described as one of the earliest churches in the Tamrash Nahiya. It stands at one of Boykovo’s highest points. The territory of Boykovo also contains 13 chapels at older holy sites, including chapels dedicated to Saint Elias, Saint Nicholas, Saint George, Saint Peter, Saint Michael, and the Virgin Mary.

The Zdravets Community Center is located in Boykovo’s central square. It houses a museum about the history of the settlement, as well as its traditional everyday life and culture. Linăt is described as a significant archaeological monument and interpreted as a sacrificial sanctuary at approximately 1,350 meters above sea level.

A recurring village festival with live music takes place in Boykovo on August 15, together with the religious celebration of Saint Mary. A Kukeri gathering is also held during Mesni Zagovezni.

Nature and Landscape

Mărtvite Skali is a rocky viewpoint approximately 200–300 meters from the summit of Kriv Kamak, offering a panorama over Boykovo. Ushite is located in the nearby area of Boykovo. Bex Tepe, Sredni Livadi, and Vahtse are also located in the surrounding area.

The 60-dekar pine forest that forms Zdrave Park was planted in the territory of Boykovo. The park is described as unfenced; its use is not restricted.

Getting There

Boykovo is located 5–6 km from the paved, two-lane third-class Plovdiv–Lilkovo road. Bus connections from the Rodopi Bus Station in Plovdiv are listed. A stop in Boykovo’s villa zone is also listed, located approximately 3 km from the settlement.
