Culture

The village festival in Sadievo is held on 19 October, the day associated with Saint Ivan Rilski. It begins with the ringing of bells and a festive liturgy in the Church of Saint Ivan Rilski. An open-air horo is part of the celebration in the village square. At this village festival, the Zdravets folklore group of the Nikola Y. Vaptsarov–1926 Community Centre performs traditional folk songs.

Sadievo’s community centre, Народно читалище „Никола Йонков Вапцаров – 1926“, is associated with local cultural activities, including music, dance, poetry, folk singing, Christmas carolling and Lazaruvane. The festival programme also included the opening of a renovated sports field in the courtyard of Hristo Botev Primary School. Pupils from this school performed the dance “With Bulgaria in the Heart” at the village festival. The primary school’s festival calendar also includes Christmas Eve, locally known as Badni vecher.

Near Sadievo, the local Zdravets vocal group takes part in the regional folk festival “Enyovden by the Tundzha” in Banya.

Nature

The land around Sadievo lies within the protected area BG0000441 Reka Blatnitsa under the EU Habitats Directive. Three habitat types, as well as listed species of invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals, are recorded for this area.

History

The Zlata Mogila near Sadievo is described as one of the 50 largest burial mounds in Bulgaria. The burial mound is 17.60 metres high and has a base diameter of 90 metres. Zlata Mogila lies east of Nova Zagora near Sadievo and is associated with a bronze-clad shield, two chariots from the Roman period and a Roman tomb.

Near Sadievo, the village’s community centre, the Zdravets Pensioners’ Club and Hristo Botev Primary School received a special award for culinary skills at the 2024 Samardala Festival in Nova Zagora.
