Skobelevo: Hotels and Accommodations
Skobelevo combines religious landmarks, local history, and a documented connection to folklore. The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was built in 1927 with funds and labor provided by residents and donors. It was recently renovated after major repairs.
Culture
The local mosque also points to a long history: Its construction began around 1720, and it is described as still preserved to this day. Around 1800, a Turkish school operated in the mosque. A local history expedition by the school also researched the life and work of militiaman Mincho Petkov Kalfov, as well as a family tree.
Local culture includes the children's folklore group Zagorche, which performed at republican festivals and won medals. A local school principal helped further develop Bulgarian folklore and promote it in the region.
At a documented village and church celebration in Skobelevo, the community center Svetlina-1928, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, and the town hall were among the organizers. Skobelevo's traditional village festival coincides with the church feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary on September 8.
Water
The Skobelevo Reservoir is located in the Chala Bair locality within the land area of Skobelevo. It is designated for sport fishing.
