Nature and Trails
Hikes from the Dushantsi Reservoir lead to Koprivshtitsa railway station, Mount Klimash, and Koprivshtitsa. The Pascal Hut can be reached via a mountain trail in about two hours or via an unpaved road in about 40 minutes in a high-clearance vehicle.
The Dushantsi Reservoir is accessible by an asphalt road, and the surrounding meadows are a popular destination for summer stays. The reservoir is also a training base for Bulgaria's national canoe and kayak team.
Nine Canadian sequoias planted in 1930 are designated as a natural attraction in Pirdop.
Culture and History
The Lukanova House Museum is a local architectural monument. Lukanova House was built between 1870 and 1872 for the family of Luka Pavlov. After the city was liberated from Ottoman rule, it housed Pirdop's first municipal administration.
The historical museum collection in Lukanova House opened on June 1, 1984. It is arranged in eight halls and a foyer and covers the history of Pirdop and its surrounding area from antiquity through the 1970s.
The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God was built in 1819 and is described as the oldest monument from the period of the Bulgarian National Revival in the area. It underwent extensive restoration from 1997 to 2002.
The Kufarita Bridge is an architectural and historical monument from the Ottoman period and was built on the foundations of a Roman-era bridge. It is a single-arch road bridge along the route of an ancient Roman road.
Events
The annual Vlaikovi Days take place during the second and third weeks of May. Their program includes theater performances, art and woodcarving exhibitions, and presentations of books by local authors.
In the Borova Gora area, Pirdop hosts an annual winter sports and tourism festival. It features horse races for young people, tug-of-war, and other competitions for children.
