Kazanlak: Hotels and Accommodation
The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak is located in Tyulbeto Park in Kazanlak. It dates from around the end of the 4th century BC and contains murals depicting Thracian burial rituals and Thracian culture. It was inscribed by UNESCO in 1979.
Culture
The Iskra Historical Museum was founded in 1901 by Petar Topuzov and is described as one of Bulgaria’s oldest, richest and best-known regional museums. The Rose Museum is housed in a new building in Rozarium Park and is part of the Iskra Historical Museum; it is described as unique of its kind.
The Petko Staynov House is located in the composer’s birthplace. Its exhibition presents his life as well as his symphonic, choral, academic, public and publishing work.
The “Kulata” Ethnographic Complex is located in Kazanlak’s oldest district. Buildings have been preserved there that retain the traditional character of the district; the exhibition shows the domestic life and worldview of Kazanlak’s inhabitants in the mid-19th century. Visitors can also watch demonstrations of rose distillation, test essential oils, sample culinary products made with oil-bearing roses, and purchase rose oil, rose liqueur, Gyul rakia, cosmetics and handmade souvenirs.
The Museum of Photography and Contemporary Visual Arts in Kazanlak opened in 2015 and is intended as a place for visitors, photographers, photography enthusiasts, residents and guests. The Ahinora Museum has a permanent exhibition hall for the paintings of Ivan Milev as well as another hall for temporary exhibitions. It is described as the world’s first museum dedicated to a single painting.
The Shipkoff House contains halls featuring episodes from the history of the Shipkoff family. It also has a workshop for handmade souvenirs, where visitors can take part in the creative process and make their own souvenirs. At the Rose Museum, visitors can purchase rose oil, rose-oil products, cosmetics, rose liqueur and souvenirs related to the culture of rose cultivation.
Cycling
Three newly asphalted cycle paths near Kazanlak are 8.5 kilometres long in total. The municipal cycle network is described as being 22 kilometres long and connects Kazanlak with Ovoshchnik, Rozovo, Enina, KrĹn and Buzovgrad.

Near Kazanlak, the “Through the Ages” trail begins on the outskirts of Buzovgrad and leads to the megalith above Buzovgrad. The Buzovgrad Megalith can be reached in less than 40 minutes on foot with an easy walk. The trail is clearly marked and has rest areas, benches and pavilions.
Near Kazanlak, the Koprinka Reservoir offers opportunities for fishing and water sports. It also provides opportunities for family outings and walks.
