The thermal waters of Starozagorski Bani emerge from three springs in Triassic dolomite and limestone.

Culture and History

The spa resort contains remains from the Thracian and Roman periods, including bathing rooms and pools made of transparent marble.

In the center, next to the mineral springs and the bath building, lies a prehistoric settlement mound dating from the sixth to the fourth millennium BC. The Roman baths next to the settlement mound are dated to AD 162–163 by a preserved inscription.

Nature and Trails

The area offers several eco-trails and marked routes in Sarnena Sredna Gora. The center of Starozagorski Bani includes a large park with a lake that is used year-round as a recreational area.

About one kilometer north of the center, near the spa resort, lies the natural phenomenon of Bogorodichna Stapka. It features a rock depression resembling a human footprint, in which the water does not dry up.
