Culture

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built by master builder Gencho Kanev in two years and stands on the northern hill of Konstantin. In its churchyard, a marble monument commemorates 39 Russian soldiers who were killed in battles near Konstantin. There is also a bust monument to Konstantin Rudanovski in the center. A war memorial in the village commemorates Konstantin residents who fell in the wars.

History

Konstantin was laid out following the Russian model, with wide, straight streets. Construction of the village began in the spring of 1878. The building work was initiated by locals who had been left homeless after Bebrovo was burned down during the liberation struggles in the Elena area.

Getting Around

Third-class road III-408 runs from Konstantin to Omurtag. Republican Road II-53 also passes through Konstantin. The route of the 2026 Giro d’Italia was planned to pass through Konstantin.

The traditional gathering in Konstantin is listed as being organized by the Iskra-1900 community center, which also has a folklore group. Todorovden in Konstantin is described as featuring traditional horse competitions, with the local custom characterized as having continued for 50 years.
