Supetar: Hotels and Accommodation

Supetar is the starting and finishing point of the 150 km-long, circular Camino Brač across the island of Brač. Those wishing to book a hotel in Supetar can then continue their accommodation search. The ferry crossing from Split to Supetar takes 50 minutes.

Trails and Landscape

Via Brattia is an approximately 140 km-long, circular tourist hiking trail that passes through Supetar. The trail is marked in both directions and can be started in Supetar. In the immediate vicinity, the 5 km-long, circular Olive Trail leads through the olive groves above Mirca to Prihodi. In the immediate vicinity, Prihodi is an old irrigation system that was historically connected to Mirca’s water supply.

The trail from Supetar towards Vidova gora leads to Trolokve, a place with three watering spots. For excursions on the water, visitors can rent a boat in Supetar and take trips along the Brač Channel to quiet bays. Vela Luka beach is listed as a beach in Supetar.

Culture and History

The parish church of Supetar was built in 1604 on the foundations of an earlier basilica. Nearby is an early Christian mosaic from the 6th century. At the entrance to the cemetery of Supetar are the remains of a Roman villa rustica from the 6th century. Fourteen funerary monuments in the cemetery were created by the sculptor Ivan Rendić (1849–1932).

The mausoleum of the Petrinović family in the town cemetery of Supetar is a work by Tomo Rosandić. The cultural walk “Dan s Rendićem” leads through the oldest historic areas of Supetar’s old town and to places where Ivan Rendić left his mark. The walk ends at the cemetery of Supetar, where Ivan Rendić’s grave and several of his works can be seen.

The Ivan Rendić Gallery is located in the public library of Supetar. It was founded on the occasion of Ivan Rendić’s 150th birthday. The Ivan Rendić Memorial Collection comprises 20 sculptures, 50 original projects and designs, as well as numerous photographs and documents.

The Banj public bath was the first public bath on the entire island of Brač and could accommodate 150 bathers.
