Nature

The Kupa in the Lasinja area is described as rich in fish, including grass carp, carp, catfish and pike; this supports angling tourism. The county tourism board invites visitors to explore the Kupa in the Lasinja area in a traditional wooden boat. The Pod pećinom bathing area was the venue for the river-based film event Riječno kino for several years.

Cycling

Cycling routes 48 and 50 start in Lasinja’s central square and are 14 kilometres long in total. Route 51, known as “Lasinja small circle”, is 5.7 kilometres long. The Lasinja cycling routes described by the county tourism board run over 13.5 kilometres of asphalt and 2.5 kilometres of gravel.

Culture and History

The Lasinja culture is named after the archaeological site of Talijanovo brdo in Lasinja; the municipality dates it to 4300 to 3950 BC. It developed in the Lasinja area and spread through continental Croatia, Bosnia’s Posavina, Slovenia, Carinthia and Hungary around Lake Balaton.

The Ethno Museum of Lasinja is housed in a traditional wooden house and displays men’s and women’s folk costumes, traditional furniture and household items. It opens to interested visitors upon request. In the centre of Lasinja, a monument on the ruins of the parish church commemorates 21 defenders and 21 civilians.

Lasinja has a parish church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. It was rebuilt in 2000 after the previous church was destroyed in 1991; several chapels are also part of the local religious heritage. The cloistered convent Kćeri Srca Isusova has been active in Lasinja since 2007 and is the only monastery of this order in Croatia. The Sacred Heart Church within the convent has an area for believers who wish to pray with the nuns.
