Zaton: Hotels and accommodations

Zaton is situated along a bay approximately two kilometers long. Along its coast, people swim from pebble shores or rocks. Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Zaton can then continue searching for accommodation.

Culture and history

The Church of St. Stephen with cemetery is registered as protected cultural heritage in Zaton. The Ljetnikovac Natali - Pozza - Sorgo - Katić is also registered as protected cultural heritage. The historic townscape also includes Renaissance summer residences associated with former Dubrovnik noble families, as well as the ruins of a fortress whose construction was begun by the French and completed by the Austrians.

Geographical setting

The freshwater springs of Vrelo are located at the head of Zaton Bay; their water once powered mills. The area of Zaton Bay encompasses Veliki Zaton, Mali Zaton, Štikovica, and Vrbica.

Local cuisine

Restaurants by the sea in Zaton serve specialties from Dubrovnik and Dalmatia. Restaurant & Konoba Dandy serves the daily catch of local fishermen and is located in the bay of Mali Zaton.

Restoran Ankora is located in the bay of Veliki Zaton and has a large terrace directly by the sea. Fish, shellfish, crabs, risotto, and grilled meat are served there in a traditionally simple style of preparation.

Water

The 2024–2028 municipal management plan for the maritime area designates a kayak rental service with eight kayaks for Plaža Zaton Mali.
