Rudina: Hotels and Accommodation

Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Rudina can continue searching for accommodation afterward. The two rural settlements are about 500 metres apart. Velike Rudine date back to the 15th century and are mentioned as early as the 14th century; Male Rudine originated in the 17th century through settlers from Gdinj.

Geographical Location

Velike Rudine are located on the ridge of the Kabal Peninsula and face Stari Grad Bay. Male Rudine lie on slopes overlooking the Hvar Channel, opposite Bol on Brač. Zlatni Rat Beach is located approximately in the surrounding area of Rudina. The Spanish Fortress is a castle and is located approximately in the surrounding area of Rudina. Odzdrin is a mountain located roughly in the vicinity of Rudina; Vidova Gora and Visoka are mountains located approximately in the surrounding area of Rudina.

Getting Around

An official cycling route, Route 21, continues across the Kabal Peninsula to Rudina after passing through Vrbanj, Svirče and Grebišće. The tourism board provides a GPS file for the route and warns that parts of it are not perfectly marked. From Male Rudine, visitors can walk to the beaches of Rudina – Žukova, Lisna, Duboka and Trovna – in about ten minutes.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Roch stands in Velike Rudine, while Male Rudine has a chapel dedicated to Saint Roch. The buildings and ruins of Rudina are described as protected cultural heritage.
