Culture
The Stari Grad Plain preserves an ancient Greek land division system with geometrically shaped plots bordered by dry-stone walls. Since Greek times, its agriculture has focused on grapes and olives.
Tvrdalj Petra Hektorovića is a fortified summer residence associated with the writer Petar Hektorović. The complex was designed as a small, enclosed world for fish, birds, plants, and people, and is open to visitors from May to October.
The Stari Grad Museum is housed in the Biankini Palace west of Tvrdalj Petra Hektorovića; the palace was built by the Biankini brothers in 1896. The second floor displays works by four 20th-century artists from Stari Grad. The archaeological exhibition Faros–Faria–Stari Grad covers ancient Faros from the 5th century BC to the 6th century. The Abdevnor Room tells the story of a Roman merchant ship that sank in Duboka; a large part of its cargo and wooden hull has been preserved.
The Church of Saint Stephen is a Baroque building whose construction began in 1605. Its interior contains eleven Baroque altars created by Venetian artists. The Church of Saint John is an early Christian church from the 5th or 6th century with figurative mosaics. On August 16, Stari Grad celebrates the Feast of Saint Roko with a procession through the town.
Landscape
Stari Grad Bay contains more than 40 natural coves with sandy, pebbly, and rocky shores.
Trails
The Kabal 706 loop route begins in the center of Stari Grad, runs mainly across the Kabal Peninsula, and combines paved roads with gravel paths over 24.7 kilometers. The Purkin Kuk 707 loop route ends in Stari Grad.
By the water
Stari Grad has several urban bathing areas near the town center. Bonj can be reached on foot along the seafront or by bicycle.
