Žminj railway station is located between the settlements of Prkačini and Pifari. This location provides a geographic reference point for planning. If you are considering travelling by train, check the current timetable in advance.

Feštinsko kraljevstvo Cave is in the village of Feštini, not far from Žminj and not in Prkačini. Inside, safe paths extend for about a hundred metres. Dripping water forms underground structures, with pools of water reflected beneath them. A visit therefore combines a short walk through the cave with a view of its sculpted formations and pools.

The wider destination of Općina Žminj features a variety of historic buildings. Žminj Castle was probably built in the 15th century with a square ground plan. Next to the castle is the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, decorated with works of art by an unknown artist in 1471. The castle and chapel offer different points of interest if you are interested in military history or sacred art.

The visible remains of the citadel also include several specific features: one of the four round towers, a wing of the fortress, an outer section of the fortifications, and a well-preserved public water cistern dating from 1863. Another landmark is the Calvary of Žminj. Built of stone in 1728, it consists of three crosses enclosed by a wall and secured by an iron gate. The Calvary is in the western part of Žminj, near the road between Pazin and Pula.

The landscape of the municipality of Žminj includes karst landforms, hilly topography and distinctive soils. Route 761 Žminj–Feštini is a specific reference point for active exploration: it starts beside the tower of Žminj, passes through the square in front of the parish church of St Michael, and continues through the old town along the old stone road “Štradi”. Bartulja is a folk festival in Žminj with a tradition of at least a hundred years. It takes place on the last Saturday in August; check the specific date for your travel year. Bartulja still includes a mass at the Church of St Bartholomew at the entrance to Žminj.

The Istrian Pasta Festival in Žminj aims to preserve and promote the local tradition of Istrian pasta, showcase indigenous varieties and support their producers. The programme may change. Various exhibitions are held in the tower of Žminj, including exhibitions of handmade nativity scenes, a small tower market, and exhibitions about Bartulja. It also includes a tasting of specialities from local producers and a demonstration of how typical pasta such as Makaruni and Fuži is prepared.
