Muntic: Hotels and Accommodation
Muntić is situated at an elevated position overlooking the southeastern landscape around Pula, between Valtura and Loborika and away from the main modern roads. One specific way to access the surrounding area is the official NESACTIUM cycling route: the easy route is 9.5 kilometres long, starts and ends at the Church of Saint Jerome in Muntić, and leads from there to the archaeological site of Nezakcij. Along the way, it offers views of nature and prehistoric sites.
Culture
The parish church of Saint Jerome has a single-nave layout and a bell gable. Its furnishings include a bell dating from 1396, a Gothic-vaulted interior, a statue of the Virgin Mary, and a painting by A. Samasse from 1827.
The history of the place has also been documented: in medieval sources, the area was called Rumijan (Rumianum) and has been documented since the 10th century. Dalmatian refugees were settled in Muntić in several waves during the 16th century. The old name has also been preserved in the name of the Runjanka pond.
Muntić has a strong tradition of folk musicians and Kantaduri. The Galerija Kapelan has existed there since 2019 and displays a private ethnographic collection. The Kapelan Gallery also preserves rescued and conserved antiques associated with life in Istrian villages and towns. A photography exhibition was scheduled to take place there from 30 January to 28 February 2026.
Events
Muntić Night is a traditional folk festival held at the Muntić football pitch. The 2024 edition was organised by NK Muntić under the patronage of the Ližnjan Tourist Board.
