Livade: Hotels and Accommodations

Nature

The Parenzana trail offers walks, runs and bike rides along paths, across bridges and viaducts, and through light tunnels. At 123 kilometers, the Parenzana trail passes through three countries.

History

The collection of the Parenzana Museum includes documents, photographs, old postcards, milestones and other objects from the railway's operation between 1902 and 1935. Original railway facilities are well preserved at Livade station. The station tracks were intended for loading wood, wine and processed stone from the St. Stjepan quarry.

Historically, Livade served as a transport and trading center for wine, olive oil and other agricultural products. From 1933 onward, Livade was home to the region's oldest truffle company, Azienda del Tartufo – Sella, Hütterott and C. Levade.

Culinary Delights

In October, the Tuber(food) fest in Livade offers truffle cooking events, themed gastronomic workshops, a program for children and sporting activities. From mid-September to the end of November, the Days of Zigante Truffles take place in Livade. They combine exhibitions of truffle products, an international wine exhibition, truffle hunting in the Motovun Forest and culinary demonstrations.

A bronze replica of the Guinness-record truffle is on display at the Zigante truffle store in Livade. Also available is a guided ride on a tourist train into the Motovun Forest with a truffle hunter and truffle dogs.
