Jurazini: Hotels and Accommodation

The 441 cycling route “Staza kalića i plemića” passes through Jurazini on a circular route from Nedešćina via Jurazini, Eržišće, Blaškovići and Šumber. Under the name “Trail of Ponds and Nobility”, it passes through Jurazini and Eržišće, where several ponds are located, including Marguda pond, which has been identified as a preserved freshwater habitat along Route 441.

Geographical setting

Sveta Nedelja is located on a plateau above the Raša Valley in the hinterland of Labin. The sea is nearby, while extensive forests stretch across the surrounding area.

Routes

Three cycling routes are promoted in the area of Sveta Nedelja, combining natural and cultural heritage with local cuisine and wine offerings; one of these routes passes through Jurazini. Hiking trail 861, “Staza kalića i bukaleta”, also passes through Jurazini and forms a circular route from Nedešćina to Cerovac and back.

Within the municipality of Sveta Nedelja, hiking trail 863 also passes through a distinctive area with marl dunes and rare geological formations.

Nature

The area around Jurazini and Eržišće along Route 441 contains several ponds. Dužica kalić has been identified there as a preserved freshwater habitat; Marguda pond and the Rupica spring along Route 441 have likewise been identified as preserved freshwater habitats. In the municipality of Sveta Nedelja, the preservation of the ponds and their species-rich flora and fauna is described as part of the local Istrian culture.

Culture

Jurazini is listed among the settlements where traditional buildings and ensembles have been preserved. The Church of Saint Quirinus dates from the 16th century. The narrow-gauge railway Šumber–Plomin Porat is also part of the history of the wider Labin area: it was built in 1925 and was an important infrastructure project in the Labin area during the interwar period of bauxite mining.
