Culture and History

Kraj is the birthplace of Croatian writer and publicist Viktor Car Emin (1870–1963).

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, dating from the 15th century, stands in Kraj’s old town center. It was a private chapel of the Mohović family and contains 11 votive paintings that can be viewed.

In the surrounding area of Kraj stands Zvonko Car’s statue “Maiden With The Seagull.” Sveti Frančisk is located near Kraj.

Coast and Landscape

Kraj has the small natural beach of Lučica, as well as views across the Kvarner toward Rijeka, Krk, and Cres. The local tourist board also highlights the Mediterranean vegetation.

A marked trail leads from Kraj toward Sv. Anton and offers views of Kraj, the sea, and the Kvarner.
