Culture

The annual carnival procession of the bell ringers, which is associated with the Kastav area, takes place during the carnival season in January; the bell ringers make their way through villages in the northwestern Croatian region of Kastav. The route of the Halubajski zvončari is marked as a hiking and walking trail with an educational purpose and passes historical, cultural, and culinary sites.

The House of the Halubje Bell Ringers presents its tradition in an educational, interactive exhibition featuring original historical objects and modern multimedia content. In Viškovo, it also houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the annual bell-ringers' procession, which has been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Sculpture Park there is laid out almost like a labyrinth, allowing visitors to walk through it. Restoran Zvončar is a restaurant there that serves home-style cuisine.

The Ivan Matetić Ronjgov Cultural Institution organizes cultural events such as Matetićevi dani. The Church of Saint Matthew in Viškovo was built in 1862 on the site of an older chapel; its main altarpiece was created by the local painter Ivan Baštijan in 1863.

Nature

The 8.6 km-long Plešivac hiking trail connects Marčelji and Tibljaši and reaches an elevation of 429 m at its highest point.

The access trail to Kapitovac passes through plots bordered by dry-stone walls to a 30 m deep sinkhole and a walled pond that serves as a rest area for hikers and cyclists. The Kapitovac pond is elliptical and has an area of approximately 300 m²; Kapitovac kalić is located in the deepest sinkhole in Viškovo.
