Nature
The Dundo Forest is a 101.08-hectare special forest vegetation reserve established in 1949. Dundo is described as one of the best-preserved holm oak forests in the Mediterranean.
Getting Around
A branch of the Rab–Premužić Trail leads through Dundo. This section was built using dry-stone construction and is described as cultural and historical heritage. The 14-kilometre Rab–Maman Trail runs through Kampor.
Premužić Trail No. 2 runs mostly along forest paths and is not suitable for bicycles. From Kampor, it leads through Dundo to the southern coast of Kalifront and then continues along the coast to Frkanj and St Euphemia Bay; it is 15 kilometres long. If hikers become tired on the Rab–Maman Trail, they can board buses in Kampor or Dumići.
Culture
The museum of the Franciscan monastery in Kampor contains church art, church silver, manuscripts and missals from the 15th century, ethnographic objects from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as numismatic material. The Monastery of St Euphemia in Kampor was founded in 1444. Its monastery church contains a polyptych by Antonio and Bartolomeo Vivarini. Part of the monastery houses the Rab Town Ethnographic Museum. The monastery library preserves around 7,000 rare books and 34 incunabula.
The fishpond of the Monastery of St Bernardine is described as a rare surviving example of historical coastal management.
The Kampor Memorial Cemetery is surrounded by a coastal dry-stone wall and contains an entrance courtyard, a burial ground, a central square and a mausoleum. The cemetery was designed in 1953 by architect Edvard Ravnikar. It commemorates the victims of the Italian concentration camp on Rab, which existed from 1942 to 1943. The restoration of the Kampor Memorial Cemetery included the entrance wall and gates, the squares, landscaping, name plaques and the central obelisk.
Kampor is also associated with organic cuisine and rustic restaurants.
