Lopar: Hotels and Accommodation

Lopar combines sandy beaches, water activities, trails, archaeological traces, and local cuisine. For travelers wishing to book a hotel, Lopar serves as the location for their accommodation search.

Nature

The Lopar Significant Landscape is a protected area. The Geological Garden Lopar has 50 geological points marked out; it features fossils, unusually shaped rocks, and geological profiles.

Beach and Water

Rajska plaža is Lopar’s largest and best-known sandy beach. It is 1.5 km long. Activities include swimming, beach volleyball, tennis, pedal boats, kayaks, SUPs, jet skis, banana boat rides, and the Aquagan water slides.

Every day, Lopar offers half-day excursions by glass-bottom boat in the waters around Lopar, as well as to Goli otok and Grgur.

Culture

The Čovik i more Interpretation Centre is dedicated to preserving and presenting Lopar’s aquaculture and maritime heritage. Four themed rooms cover history, seafaring and fishing, island life, and traditional cuisine.

Admission to the centre is free for all visitors; it is described as being open year-round.

The Podšilo archaeological site contains a partially preserved Roman pottery kiln.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary near the Lopar ferry port is mentioned in municipal records from the 14th century. It contains a late Romanesque wooden relief from the 14th century; tourists and pilgrims visit it.

Trails

The Epario educational trail in Lopar is part of the Rab Archaeological (T)races project. The project presents the heritage through 34 information points connected by educational trails totaling around 40 km in Lopar and the neighboring parts of the island of Rab.

The Rab Archaeological (T)races mobile application works offline and is intended for walkers, cyclists, and hikers.

Lopar MTB 1 is a 26.2 km mountain bike route of medium difficulty, with 468 m of elevation gain and an estimated duration of 2 hours 45 minutes. On the return journey, it follows the Premužić Trail and offers views of the Velebit Channel.

Local Cuisine

Pumidorfest is a Lopar food festival featuring dishes made with local tomatoes and a tourist competition for preparing salsa.
