ÄŒvrljevo: Hotels and Accommodation

ÄŒvrljevo is home to the parish church, built in 1902 on the foundations of an older church dating from 1730. The apse of this older building has been preserved as a sacristy.

Culture

The façade of the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus features a bell gable with three bells. A new bell tower was built next to the church in 1997. The cemetery around the parish church in Čvrljevo contains a chapel dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus.

Velika Gospa is celebrated as the co-patron saint of the parish of the Holy Name of Jesus in ÄŒvrljevo. During a pastoral visit to ÄŒvrljevo, an Ojkalica group in traditional dress sang around the church after Mass.

Religious Traditions

The feast of the Holy Name of Jesus in ÄŒvrljevo is observed on the first Sunday after 14 January. Franciscan seminarians from Split have traditionally taken part.

A procession around the parish church and the local cemetery is recorded as part of the celebration of the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. The observance began with a Mass and the singing of litanies.
