Tribunj: Hotels and Accommodation
Tribunj’s historic centre lies on a small island connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. The settlement preserves remnants of the defensive walls of Jurjevgrad, which were built in the mid-17th century under Venetian rule. The townscape is characterised by compact houses and narrow streets.
Coast and Landscape
Plava plaža is a four-kilometre-long pebble beach between Tribunj and Vodice and has been awarded the Blue Flag. The Municipality of Tribunj is described as an area with a deeply indented coastline and five smaller islets. The municipality is also described as having wooded elevations rising to nearly 200 metres, as well as maquis, Mediterranean forests, olive groves and vineyards. Near Tribunj lies Logorun, a small island in the Šibenik archipelago off Tribunj.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint Nicholas was built in the 15th century on a hill above Tribunj, on the site of the former Jurjevgrad fortress. On Good Friday night, a procession makes its way around the Tribunj peninsula; this local tradition has existed since 1935.
Tribunj’s traditional donkey races are described as an event of cultural tourism. The 51st edition included a procession from Zamalin Beach to Pijaca Square. The Tribunj cultural association operates in the renovated rooms of the old church. Its cultural programme includes a library, an internet centre and a children’s playground.
Cycling
EuroVelo 8 enters Tribunj via Put Sovlja and leaves again via Put Vodica. On the Pakoštane–Šibenik section, Tribunj is a place to stock up and take a break; the local beaches are among the options for resting.
Local Life
Tribunj is described as having a local fishing tradition and a tradition of olive growing. Fish specialities are associated with local taverns and restaurants in Tribunj. Ribarska noć is described as a traditional gastronomic event held in Tribunj at the end of July.
By road, Tribunj can be reached from the A1 motorway via the Pirovac exit, Road 59 and Road 8; this is followed by a turn towards Tribunj.
