Nature

Pometeno Brdo in Veliki Broćanac is a limestone karst area with characteristic karst features. The area is a comparatively flat plateau at an elevation of 450 to 520 metres; in some parts, the vegetation of the rocky pastureland has been preserved.

Culture and history

Historical and cultural features associated with Veliki Broćanac include the churches of St. Peter and St. Francis, Sv. Frane, Orošnjakove staje, the Lokvica well and the medieval settlement, the Ucin well, the prehistoric Ucin hill, the Brdo Uca stone mound, and the prehistoric mounds of Prosine.

The Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Broćanac was built from local stone and has an irregular shape. It was first mentioned in the visitation of Bishop Miošić in 1832; it also has a concrete-and-stone bell gable for three bells.

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Veliki Bročanac is a single-nave building measuring 5 × 4 metres. It has a bell gable with two bells and was built in 1805.
