Katuni: Hotels and Accommodations

Nature

In Katuni–Prpuša, there is a 70-hectare organic Marasca cherry orchard with around 20,000 trees.

Culture

In Vlake, the intersection of two Roman roads has been preserved; the stone wheel ruts are approximately 1.4 meters apart. Kulina in the southern part of Vlake is a prehistoric fortification with a preserved rampart and traces of use from the Middle Ages and the early modern period.

The old parish church of the Assumption of Mary in Katuni was restored in 1722. It contains a large Last Judgment painting by Filip Naldi from 1759, as well as a stone rose window made on the island of Brač. The new parish church of Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces, was completed and consecrated in 1970. Behind its main altar is a mosaic by Josip Botteri Dini measuring more than 100 square meters.

Cuisine

Marasca cherries from Katuni–Prpuša are used for liqueurs, spirits, vitamin syrups, juices, jams, as well as frozen or dried fruit. In Šestanovac and the wider Dalmatian Zagora region, spit-roasted lamb, veal prepared under a peka, and homemade hearth bread are also part of the culinary traditions passed down through generations.
