Culture

At the Mijoljača archaeological site in Brnaze, a late medieval cemetery with 109 excavated graves covered the remains of an early medieval church with six apses. Mijoljača also contains the remains of the Old Croatian Church of Saint Michael with six apses, dating from the 9th or 10th century. Archaeological finds include Old Croatian stone church furnishings, part of an Early Christian altar screen and several ancient monuments. The Church of Saint Michael was probably built on the foundations of an Early Christian church.

Brnaška glavica also contains historic Christian traces. Local culture includes KUD Brnaze, founded in 1975, which preserves traditional customs, original and choreographed dances, and songs.

Meljača regularly hosts the Brnaški dernek, a local cultural festival featuring traditional sports, an Alka competition for children, folklore performances, amateur singing and demonstrations of historical agricultural practices.

Religious Routes

The new parish church of Saint Nicholas Tavelić was built on the site of the former church, which had been constructed in 1972. On 1 May 2023, the new church was blessed and put into liturgical use. Its bell tower is 40.5 metres high and has four bells and a cross.

The Kukuzovac–Shrine Sinj stage of the Our Lady of Sinj Route passes through the first houses in Brnaze.

Geographical Location

Brnaze lies along the Split–Sinj–Knin road axis. At the intersection, the village is also connected to the Brnaze–Trilj–Imotski road.

Konjički klub Alamo offers a riding school, recreational riding and organised riding events for groups of visitors. The Pokladno jahanje in Brnaze had already reached its fifth edition and was organised by Udruga Naše Brnaze.
