Culture and History

The Trilj Regional Museum presents themed exhibitions, educational workshops and lectures about the Trilj region.

The 3 km-long Gaj-Laberije hiking trail leads over Gardun Hill and includes Tilurium, St Peter's Church and views over Trilj and its surroundings. Tilurium was a Roman legionary camp on a plateau above Trilj and was one of the most important military centres in Roman Dalmatia. A funerary monument to Gaius Laberius, found near Tilurium near Trilj, is built into the façade of a stone house on Sinj Vrlička Street.

At Samoleč, near the Tilurium site in Gardun near Trilj, the remains of an ancient road platform have been recorded. The St Michael's Days in Trilj include a traditional goods and livestock market.

Trails and Landscape

The 11.6 km-long “Wine” cycling trail begins in Trilj and runs through Strmendolac and Čaporice. The 25.5 km-long Mlinice cycling trail passes through a complex of five old mills near the Grab River.

The Samardžića Mills form a rural 19th-century mill complex on the Grab River; the mills are still operational.

Culinary Traditions

Patišpanja is a traditional sponge cake from Trilj. Culinary traditions in the Trilj area include Cetina trout, frogs, crayfish, arambašići, meat prepared under a peka, game, air-dried ham, local cheeses made from sheep's, goat's and cow's milk, and fritule.

Experiences

The bridges of Trilj are presented as a tourist attraction and connect the two banks of the Cetina. Guided river fishing on the Cetina is offered as a lower-adrenaline activity.

Swimming in the Cetina is mentioned as an opportunity to cool off on hot, dry summer days in Trilj.

From the A1 motorway, Trilj can be reached via the Bisko exit; Bisko is then 4 km away.
