Culture

The cemetery of the parish church of St. George contains medieval tombstones in the form of massive, decorated stone crosses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The parish church of St. George in Vojnić was built in the 1930s on the site of an earlier church from the 18th century. Its ground plan is cross-shaped; it has a semicircular apse and a bell tower integrated into the façade. Roman inscriptions and reliefs are set into the cemetery wall.

The Church of St. Clare is a small single-nave church with a gabled roof. It stands in the fields below Vojnić; several medieval tombstones in the shape of crosses are located beside it.

History

Vojnić and Gardun are connected with a history that dates back to their liberation in 1686; Vojnić subsequently received new settlers from Bosnia and the neighboring area of Poljica.

Routes and Trails

The 14-kilometer Nutjak cycling route passes through Gardun and Vojnić. It connects the settlement’s religious heritage with Nutjak Fortress and the landscape along the Cetina River. From Vojnić, a cycling access route leads to the Kula Nutjak viewpoint, offering a panorama of the Cetina River canyon. A cycling access route through Gardun follows a narrow local road toward Vojnić Sinjski.

On the cycling access route to Vojnić, the asphalt turns into light gravel for about one kilometer before the first houses. Vojnić Sinjski is listed as one of the named places on the map of the Central Dalmatia Camino pilgrimage route.
