Trogir: Hotels and Accommodation

The historic city of Trogir preserves an orthogonal street network dating back to the Hellenistic period. It has been continuously inhabited since its Greek foundation as a trading settlement in the 3rd century BC. Two ancient main roads in the historic city of Trogir are still in use.

Culture

The permanent exhibition at the Trogir City Museum presents the history of the city and its surroundings from prehistoric times to the beginning of the 20th century. The museum's archaeological and lapidary collection comprises around 100,000 museum objects.

The Church and Monastery of St Nicholas in Trogir were founded in 1064. Radovan's Portal forms the main entrance to Trogir Cathedral and is dated to 1240. The Chapel of St John Trogir was built in the 15th century based on a design by Nikola Firentinac; Andrija Aleši and Ivan Duknović also contributed to it.

Kamerlengo Fortress stands on the waterfront in the southwestern part of the historic island of Trogir. The Benedictine Monastery of Saint Nicholas houses the Kairos art collection. The Kairos relief found in Trogir dates from the 3rd century BC. Kamerlengo Fortress also serves as an open-air venue for summer concerts, theatre performances and festivals.

Things to Do

A 13.4-kilometre family and trekking route called Treasure of Čiovo begins in Trogir-Čiovo, leads through Žedno, Okrug Gornji and Milićevo, and then returns to Trogir. The route offers sea views as well as narrow local roads with little traffic.

The Trogir archipelago features quiet coves as well as islands and islets that attract sailors and sailing enthusiasts.

Cuisine

Trogirski rafiol is a traditional speciality with a long history. The tradition of baking Trogirski rafiol is passed down from one generation of Trogir residents to the next.
