Potštejn: Hotels and Accommodation

Potštejn Castle houses an exhibition on the history of the castle in its fourth entrance gate. Potštejn Chateau was built in 1749 by Count Jan Ludvík Harbuval Chamaré.

History and Culture

The Křížová cesta Stations of the Cross leads from Městečko to Potštejn Castle and was established around 1750 by Anna Barbora Harbuval ze Chamaré. Its final station, Boží hrob, is located in the lower castle courtyard opposite the Baroque Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk.

The Church of St. Lawrence in Potštejn was rebuilt in the Empire style between 1815 and 1821. The church houses an altarpiece of St. Lawrence by Antonín Machek from 1819. The present-day prayer house of the Unity of Brethren in Potštejn dates from 1899.

Sightseeing

Potštejn Chateau offers regular guided tours of its interiors, as well as entertaining tours in Baroque costumes. The collection of the Vojenské muzeum Potštejn currently comprises more than 400 exhibits, the vast majority of which are historical originals. The museum is open to visitors only by prior arrangement via email.

Modlivý důl protects a forest stand with the original tree species composition of the forests in the Střední Poorličí area.
