The larger part of Mníšek and all of Fojtka are located in the Jizera Mountains Protected Landscape Area.

Nature

On a slope of Dračí vrch near Fojtka, there is a protected occurrence of the European yew (Taxus baccata).

Culture and history

The Baroque “Church of St Nicholas” in Mníšek is a state-protected monument; the foundation of the present-day church was laid on June 3, 1739.

Getting around

The Fojtka–Dračí skála excursion route leads from the Fojtka reservoir to Dračí skála and is 8 kilometres long. The first section can be travelled by bicycle and with a stroller; the ascent to Dračí vrch on this route is only possible on foot.

The rock on Dračí vrch (“Dragon's Hill”) can still be visited by tourists today. Swimming is possible at the Fojtka reservoir in summer.

Getting there and orientation

Mníšek can be reached from Liberec by train to the “Mníšek u Liberce” stop or by bus to the stop in front of the municipal office.

The car park designated for cars at the Fojtka reservoir is called “Parkoviště vodní nádrž Fojtka”.
