Culture and history
The Sbor Dr. Karla Farského is located in Podmoklice. The building was completed and opened on September 18, 1938; on September 20, 2016, it was declared a cultural monument. It is accessible by train, bus, and private vehicles.
In the archaeological site of Podmoklice, a village that disappeared during the Thirty Years' War was located on the site of the Kapla ZSO manor farm.
The Pardubice–Liberec railway line was built from 1856 to 1858, including the Semily railway station. The subsequent industrial boom contributed to significantly stronger growth in Semily and Podmoklice.
Architecture and technology
Guided tours with commentary through the FABRIKA 1861 complex introduce its industrial architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries. Areas that were previously closed to the public are also presented, including production halls, offices, and the Ludmila clock tower.
The historic riveted footbridge Lávka Amálka was renovated and is now back in operation in the FABRIKA 1861 complex. The clock in the Ludmila tower at FABRIKA 1861 was put back into operation on July 31, 2021, at 7:01 p.m.
The “U Zlatého kola” Bicycle Museum showcases the development of bicycles over various periods, as well as technology, movement, and the craft tradition of cycling.
Nature
In connection with the host municipality, the Riegrova Trail passes through the Galerie natural monument and the Údolí Jizery a Bítouchova nature reserve. The trail features a 77-meter-long suspended gallery with views of the Jizera River.
