Čankovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Čankovice combines a long history with the Maundy Thursday procession and clearly documented traces in the surrounding area. The archaeological finds from Čankovice are dated approximately to the 1st millennium BC and attributed to the Silesian-Platěnice culture. In a Latin document from 1293, Čankovice is mentioned under the name Marquardus de Czankowicz.

Culture and History

During the midday Maundy Thursday procession in Čankovice, the “Vrkači” first circle the chapel on the village square three times and then proceed along a designated route through the village.

The Chapel of the Transfiguration of the Lord was probably built around 1822. It is located in Čankovice and in the Čankovice cadastral area; it belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Hrochův Týnec.

The now-demolished, well-known sugar factory, which is often associated with Hrochův Týnec, stood in the cadastral area of Čankovice. The Church of Saint George is also located in the wider region surrounding Čankovice.

The Na vrchách hill lies in the immediate vicinity of Čankovice. The surrounding area also includes the hill of Turyň [Kočí], Na Kopci hill [Dolní Roveň], and Jandák hill [Moravany-Čeradice nad Loučnou].
