The cadastral area of Leština belongs to the territory of the Maštale Nature Reserve, which covers 1,083.6 hectares.

Nature and Landscape

The most significant geomorphological features of the Maštale Nature Reserve are the so-called Budislavské skály, a system of rocky valleys that have cut in places up to 60 metres deep into sandstone and the underlying crystalline rocks.

In the immediate vicinity of Leština are Na Chlumku [Leština] and Horní role [Leština], both recorded as hills. The mountain of Jarošov is also located in the vicinity of Leština; in the wider regional surroundings of Leština lies the mountain of Řetová.

Culture and History

The reconstructed bell tower of Leština stands in the village square and is one of the municipality’s listed monuments. In Doubravice, the Chapel of the Holy Trinity dates from 1900.

Events

The volunteer fire brigade SDH Podhořany maintains a long-standing tradition of erecting the maypole, combined with the burning of witches. SDH Doubravice organizes the erection and taking down of the maypole as a local cultural event.

The “O velikonočního zajíčka” procession takes place annually in the municipality of Leština. An annual lantern procession also takes place in Leština.
