Dolní Čermná between churches, a nature trail and a pond

In the Jakubovice district, the branch church of St. Anthony of Padua was built in 1850. It has Hanisch organs from the 19th century with ten stops, whose bellows are still operated by hand. The church hosts the Anthony pilgrimage on the Sunday around June 13, the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua.

The historic sacred landscape also includes the cemetery chapel of St. Barbara, which dates from the early 18th century. A stone bridge in Dolní Čermná bears the year 1308. The town’s historic pond covers 16 hectares and was created in the mid-17th century.

The Dolní Čermná family nature trail is approximately 6 kilometres long, starts and ends in the Health and Sports Area, and can be completed on foot, by bicycle or with a stroller. Along the trail there are three covered rest areas, information boards and other educational stations focused on environmental education. The trail leads to the Crk forest spring and provides information about the birds of the surrounding area as well as legends associated with the places concerned. Dolní Čermná lies in the Podorlická hilly landscape, within the Žamberská hilly landscape and the Čermenská pahorkatina landscape district.

Bus route 700904 connects Ústí nad Orlicí, Dolní Dobrouč and Dolní Čermná. Bus route 700913 connects Lanškroun, Dolní Čermná, Verměřovice and Letohrad.

The Museum of Historical Radios contains more than 200 types of radios, most of which were manufactured in the former Czechoslovakia. It also includes historical electronic components from nearly the entire production range of TESLA Lanškroun.

The local navigation also leads to Kameničná, Jehnědí, Vlckovice, Sudslava, Újezd U Chocně, Ceská Rybná U Zamberka, Horní Třešňovec and Písečná.

The Museum of the Market Town of Dolní Čermná first made its exhibits accessible to the public in the summer of 2001; visits are possible by prior personal or telephone arrangement. It includes an ethnographic and a natural history section with exhibits on birds, small game, rodents, antlers and mounted antler heads, as well as collections of butterflies and beetles, minerals and preserved reptiles, illustrating life in the region’s natural environment across various biotopes.

The churches, nature trail, historic pond and museums in Dolní Čermná represent different thematic focal points; travellers can decide for themselves whether to give greater consideration to culture, nature or the combination of both themes when planning their own stay in the area.
