Chotiměř lies in the valley of the Zubřina stream.
History
Chotiměř was first mentioned in 1379; at that time, Hněvek z Chotoměře was its owner. The original fortress of Chotiměř was mentioned as abandoned in 1547 and stood on an island in the village pond.
Culture
The castle chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Chotiměř is listed as an immovable cultural monument in the Czech heritage register under registration number 22488/4-2035. It has an articulated trapezoidal floor plan and is crowned by three sheet-metal domes. The niches on the front of its façade contain statues of Saint Francis, Saint Joseph, and Saint Catherine.
The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Chotiměř is also a protected cultural monument with the Czech heritage number 16455/4-2037. The Calvary sculpture group in Chotiměř is likewise a protected cultural monument; its Czech heritage number is 24976/4-2036.
Landscape
The U Kalvárie archaeological site is located in fields east of the village, above the confluence of the Zubřina and Hradišťský potok streams. Surface finds revealed an extensive prehistoric settlement there.
Connections
The signposted Friendship Cycle Route No. 2141 passes through Chotiměř. The 105-kilometre cross-border cycle route connects the tourist centre of the Upper Palatinate Forest in the Schwandorf district, in the town centre of Nabburg, with the Regional Information Centre in Horšovský Týn. In the Czech Republic, it runs along field and forest paths as well as minor roads with little traffic.
Road III/18315 connects Chotiměř with road III/18310 in the direction of Lštění.
