Pilsen: Hotels and accommodation

In the Pilsen Region, a 300 m long wooden bridge leads through the wolf enclosure at the Srní Visitor Centre. It is located 3 to 4 m above the ground and has observation huts. There is also a children's playground at the building.

The Srní Visitor Centre also features an approximately 2 km long educational circular trail about the Šumava's predators, as well as native trees and plants.

The centre offers visitors with reduced mobility assisted access to the elevated wolf enclosure bridge.

The Kvilda Visitor Centre includes the 2.6 km long Jelení Trail, which partly leads through a deer enclosure and has three observation towers.

The route is marked as suitable for families with small children.

Culture

The region's cultural offerings include galleries, museums, theatres, music festivals and Choden folklore.

The Å koda Family Museum presents Emil Å koda, his extended family and more than 150 years of Å koda Works history; it also includes a working model of an electric railway.

The Klatovské catacombs are crypts beneath the Jesuit church. Thirty mummified bodies can be seen there, and visitors can learn about the history of the city and the Jesuit order.

The Centrum stavitelského dědictví in Plasy presents the history of building techniques and construction materials in former monastery brewery and farm buildings.

Nature

Å umava National Park extends into the Pilsen Region.

Hromnické jezírko is a natural monument. Its unusual reddish colour was created as a remnant of a slate quarry.

Trails

The Gunther Trail runs through the forests of the Å umava Mountains and picturesque villages.

The historic Golden Trail leads to Kašperské Hory and Kašperk Castle. Together with the Vintíř Trail, it is one of the long-distance trails complemented by viewpoints, castle ruins and protected natural areas.

Cycling routes can be combined with observation towers, castles, natural attractions and gastronomic stops.

There are dozens of tourist routes in the Pilsen Region, including routes outside Å umava.

Culinary delights

Beer trails in the Pilsen Region connect 14 renowned breweries and convey centuries-old brewing traditions.

Ale has been brewed in Chodová Planá since the 12th century.

The Modrý Abbé Beer Studio in Klatovy offers dark Granát lager as well as the non-alcoholic, unfiltered Svatý Kryštof.

Relaxation

Konstantinovy Lázně offers therapeutic baths and massages; beer baths are available at Purkmistr, Chodovar and Šumava Herbal Spa.

Getting there

Travelling from Prague to Pilsen by bus or train takes 50 minutes.
