Stodůlky: Hotels and Accommodation

For the purposes of local history, Stodůlky begins at the Church of St. James the Greater: it stands on a small hill near Stodůlky Metro Station. The station is wheelchair accessible and is part of Prague Metro Line B.

Culture and History

The first documented written mention of the church in Stodůlky dates back to 1292. The Church of St. James the Greater is located on the historic Royal Road from Prague to Karlštejn. In 1989, a bronze statue of Rusalka by Kurt Gebauer was erected above the church on Kovářova Street. The Chapel of the Finding of the Holy Cross, built between 1743 and 1754, is also located in Stodůlky.

Several cultural and historical sites are located around Stodůlky: Letohrádek královny Anny is a chateau, Galerie Rudolfinum is a museum, Palác Kinských is a palace, and The Golz-Kinsky Palace is also a palace.

Nature and Trails

Central Park runs along the Prokopský potok stream and continues towards Jeremiášova Street, the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Nová Ves, and Prokopské údolí. Its network of paths includes two wooden footbridges and a stone bridge over the Prokopský potok. Central Park is used for walks and sporting activities. Stodůlecký rybník pond is a defining landscape feature of Central Park in Stodůlky.

The immediate surroundings also include several islands: Veslařský ostrov, Slovanský ostrov, and Velké Benátky are located around Stodůlky. Doutnáč is a mountain in the wider regional surroundings of Stodůlky.
