Arnostov: Hotels and Accommodations

Arnoštov is located in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Šumava) and at the same time on the Blanice River, where the Puchéřský potok stream flows into it. If you are planning Arnoštov as a destination, you may wish to book a hotel.

Nature

The Blanice National Nature Monument is located in the vicinity of Arnoštov, an extensive area of meadows, wetlands and forests in the Blanice catchment area. Walks along the banks of the Blanice and Puchrovský potok near Arnoštov offer the opportunity to observe white-throated dippers, kingfishers and black storks. In recent years, beavers have built beaver dams on the Puchéřský potok near Arnoštov.

The named mountains Křemenná and Větrný are located in the immediate vicinity of Arnoštov; the named mountains Chlum and Rohanovský vrch are also located in the surrounding area. Chlumany is a named landscape formation in the vicinity of Arnoštov, recorded as an ancient site.

Culture and History

The glassworks in Arnoštov was permanently closed in 1945. The only part of it that has been preserved is the owner's villa, known as the Zámeček. The building dates from the early 19th century and was the former villa of the glassworks owner Wilhelm Kralik.

Three steam locomotives named Wilma, Ludvík and Lisel operated on the Arnoštov forest railway. The former forest railway is commemorated by the original track bed with remnants of sleepers and an old stone bridge in Arnoštov. The Schiffler Chapel is a named church in the wider regional area around Arnoštov.

Trails

Hiking route No. 3 leads from Arnoštov via Sedmidomí and Čtyři domy to Na Skále. Cycle route No. 1252 leads from the junction near Křišťanov via Arnoštov and the Záhvozdský potok to Pernek.

A red-marked hiking trail leads via Spálenec and Arnoštov to Volary and runs along places connected with the former narrow-gauge railway.
