Außergefild leads into the landscape around Kvilda, where nature observation, peatland landscapes, and culture are presented at specific sites.

For a stay in Außergefild, the focus may be on booking a hotel.

Nature

The Kvilda Visitor Centre features exhibitions about the life of the European red deer and other deer species in the Šumava region. The Jelení stezka trail at the visitor centre forms a 2.6-kilometre circular route. It partly runs through the deer enclosure and has three observation towers.

Landscape

Jezerní slať is a raised bog on the plateau of the Šumava plains. It is located three kilometres from Kvilda. Its circular trail leads from Kvilda via a new cycle path for tourists, while a wooden boardwalk leads into the centre of the bog. Information panels there explain the formation of the raised bog and, in part, its present-day flora and fauna.

The mountains of Vysoký stolec, Holý vrch, Sokol (Antýgl), and Stráž lie in the vicinity of Kvilda. At the Bezlesí educational trail, a variety of often rare plants grow where small fields and meadows once lay.

Culture

Construction of the new stone Church of St Stephen began in 1892; it was consecrated in 1894. The Church of St Stephen is a protected cultural monument.

The Museum of Reverse Glass Painting in Kvilda is a stop on the Cesta podmaleb trail. The Frauenau Glass Museum is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kvilda.
