Geographical Setting

Lásenice is surrounded by numerous other ponds and forests. The dam of Formanský rybník forms part of the road to České Budějovice.

History

The fortification complex of Lásenice is not open to the public. From the late 14th to the 15th century, a frequently used medieval trade route to Stráž nad Nežárkou and onward to České Budějovice ran through Lásenice.

The Lásenice watermill stands on the course of the Nežárka in Lásenice. Its current form dates back to the first half of the 19th century; a Gothic portal indicates its medieval origins.

The current form of the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Lásenice dates from 1863. The chapel is designed in a Romantic interpretation of the Romanesque style.

Culture

The Lásenice Pietà dates from 1360 to 1374 and is now located in the National Gallery in Prague.

Paintings are exhibited at the Malá lásenická galerie. It was the first rural gallery in Bohemia.

The Nežárka cycling route is very easy and suitable for trekking bikes.
