Milejovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Dobrá Voda is a pilgrimage site two and a half kilometres from Milejovice. The village has a church, several chapels and a Stations of the Cross.

Culture

Construction of the church in Dobrá Voda began in 1889 and was completed on 29 May 1891. The church is dedicated to the Queen of Heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Stations of the Cross near Dobrá Voda date from 1891 and consist of fourteen chapels.

Below the Baroque chapel with the healing-water spring, there is another, smaller chapel near Dobrá Voda. This smaller chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and has a Stations of the Cross with painted images.

Milejovice also has distinctive religious and historical landmarks: the local chapel stands next to the playground, and a memorial to the victims of the First World War is located beside the chapel. Outside Milejovice, in the direction of Přechovice, there is a replica of a double-barred cross; the original double-barred cross is kept in a museum in Strakonice.

Pilgrimage

Every year on 8 May, a walking pilgrimage leads from Strakonice to Dobrá Voda; if 8 May falls on a Sunday, it takes place on 7 May instead. The route is approximately 16 km long. During the Dobrovodská pilgrimage, a mass is held annually in the church of Dobrá Voda. During the walking pilgrimage to Dobrá Voda, a stop at the chapel in Milejovice with a prayer for the municipality is scheduled for 12:00.

The grounds of Dobrá Voda offer views of the South Bohemian landscape. At the local spring in Dobrá Voda, you can drink the water at your own risk.
