Opařany: Hotels and Accommodation
Opařany combines distinctive religious buildings with a protected park and traces of its monastic and local history. The former Jesuit monastery in Building A was constructed between 1717 and 1727 on the site of a former stone fortress. The Baroque monastery gate, Markéta, is named after the fresco of Saint Margaret in its gable. The Opařany water tower was built in 1901.

Culture
The Church of Saint Francis Xavier was built between 1732 and 1735 on the site of an earlier church dating from the mid-17th century. Its main altar contains an image of the Black Madonna. Tours of the interiors of the former Jesuit monastery include the cloister, the Baroque refectory, museum rooms, and the church’s oratory rooms. Building A also houses a permanent exhibition of historical documents and objects relating to the history of psychiatry in Opařany.
The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands immediately next to the Church of Saint Wenceslas in Opařany; the chapel itself is protected as a cultural monument. It is a mixed-masonry building with a square floor plan, a curved gable, and a roof covered with double-laid tiles. The free-standing niche chapel stands in front of the southern façade of a church and has a square floor plan with a flat, three-sided termination. Its interior is square and covered by a ribbed cross vault.
Nature
The DPN Opařany park is protected as a cultural monument and is open to the public daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A dendrological educational trail with labels identifying rarer trees runs through the park. DPN Opařany also offers tourist accommodation in a facility with 21 apartments.
The Bistro community centre in Opařany offers workshops to the general public, as well as other activities such as meetings, lectures, gymnastics, and board games.
Routes and Sightseeing
A paved forest path leads from Opařany to Jezuitský vrch and the image of the Black Madonna. The path to Jezuitský vrch was once used by Jesuits who prepared for their work as preachers and missionaries at the monastery in Opařany.
During guided tours held as part of European Heritage Days, the water tower could only be visited with a guide and was viewable only from the outside.
