The writer and journalist Josef Holeček was born in Stožice on 27 February 1853. His twelve-volume novel “Naši” is set mainly in his native village and its local surroundings. The writer’s birthplace in Stožice is house no. 7; a memorial plaque and the inscription “U Holečků” commemorate this.

Stožice village square is dominated by the neo-Gothic Chapel of Saints Simon and Jude; its façade is decorated with frescoes of Saint Florian and Saint Prokop.
