Culture and Local History

The present-day Baroque Church of St. Margaret stands in the village square of Vitějovice. It dates from 1743 and was built between 1743 and 1746 on the site of an older church. Below Vitějovice stands the preserved Panský Mill, also called Bürgrův Mill, on the left bank of the Zlatý potok, a right-bank tributary of the Blanice. The associated millrace is about 750 metres long and runs along the eastern edge of Vitějovice.

In the wider region around Vitějovice lies Chlumany, an ancient archaeological site. At Osule Castle, the remains of the palace and the lower sections of two powerful round towers have been preserved. A restored monument also stands at a crossroads where five armies met in 1945.

Landscape and Trails

The mountains of Libín, Volovický vrch, Rohanovský vrch, and Vrata lie in the surroundings of Vitějovice. The Kralovické louky Nature Reserve is one of the natural attractions in Vitějovice.

The blue hiking trail from Vitějovice to Husinec has a short branch leading to the ruins of Osule. There is also the approximately 40-kilometre cycling loop “Na Zlatý potok a hrad Osule”.
